Reds Series Recap: Double Feature!

Reds win 5 out of 6 to Reach High-Water Mark of the Season
The Redlegs completed a 3-game sweep of the cubbies, took 2-of-3 from the Padres, and reach3d 16 games over .500 for the first time this season after reaching 15 games above .500 3 previous times. Baseball is a streaky game and a lot of Cincinnati fans have been waiting for this team to get hot after playing .500 ball for the past month. Well I have one thing to say to those patient fans....

The Pirates are playing pretty well, but the Cardinals are playing like shit, losing 3-of-4 to the hottest team on the planet, (that's right I said it, the Dodgers) as well as losing 2-of-3 AT HOME the lowly Cubs. This all results in a tight division race in which the Reds are still very relevant.

Offensive Players of the (Cubs) Series:
Todd Frazier. 3-12 (okay still not that good), 3 runs, 1 HOMERUN, 2 RBI.
Joey Votto is going to get on base, Brandon Philips will bring in runs, Jay Bruce will bring in runs (streakily). When Todd, or who knows maybe even Ryan Ludwick, begins to drive in extra runs, this team is hard to beat. This series met a month-long draught for Todd not only for home runs but for hits as well. Keep bringing it Flava Fraz.

Defensive Players of (both) Series:
Bronson Arroyo. 14 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 14 K.
These are lights out numbers for a guy many believe to be the #5 starter out of the Reds rotation, while in reality he's playing like a #2 (I see you Mat Latos). The fact that this guy is dealing these numbers at this age is simply amazing; it will be a sad day to see him leave at the end of the season.

Clutch Play of the Series:
Shin Soo Choo's two-run single to go-ahead in first game against the Cubs.
It seems like the Reds have been going into extras a lot recently, especially on the road, including a decisive 14-innings loss at Wrigley in June. A clutch hit by Choo, who has been cold recently, gave the Reds the lead and enabled good-ole Aroldis Chapman to close out the Cubbies.

On Deck
-The Reds head to Milwaukee, meaning 'the good land', to take on the Brew Crew for an extended 4-game weekend series.
Vamos Rojos, OY, OY, ORGULLO!

Viva los Rojos,

Nate
