Reds' Series Recap: Reds At Brewers

Reds split series in Milwaukee, close the gap in NL Central Race

I got one thing to say to those Pirates and Cardinals fans that follow our blog....

Although the Reds had a chance to take second place from the Cardinals this weekend, the gap has been closing thanks to subpar play of the Pirates, who've lost 7 of the last 9, with 3 of those being extra-innings losses. As always, the series could've been much better, losing the second game on a Jonathan Lucroy 2-run walkoff homerun via Aroldis Chapman.

Offensive Performance(s) of the Series
Shin-Soo Choo - Game 4.  2-2, 2 singles, 3bb, 1 run.
Choo once again defines what a leadoff batter ought to be.

Todd Frazier - Game 2. 3-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI.
Sadly didn't have any hits the rest of the series... please don't go cold, please don't go cold

Defensive Performance of the Series
Homer Bailey - Game 4. 8 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 ER
Fact of the day: Homer's career numbers vs. the Brewers are 1-7 with a 6.03 ERA... ouch. Glad he was able to figure it out for G4 with a dominant performance.

On Deck
The Reds have roughly 12 games left vs. the Pirates and Cardinals; those games are important. The next most important series is this week's 4 game homestand against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who represent the only other team threatening for a wildcard spot. Check out the series preview on Redlegnation, who can offer much more in depth coverage than I can fathom, but you don't get witty memes like you do here.

**Editor's Note: I can fathom more in-depth coverage.**

you like memes, don't you squidward?
